XPeng launches in Romania: Four initial showrooms and a debut range of 4 models

Electric Offensive from the East: Chinese Giant XPeng Officially Debuts in Romania with 4 SF Models and Aggressive Expansion Plans

Imported through a strategic partnership by AutoWallis and Salvador Caetano Group, the brand that defines itself as a pioneer of "Physical AI" is initially opening four showrooms in the country and bringing ultra-fast charging technology at extremely competitive prices.

BUCHAREST – The Romanian electric vehicle market is welcoming a new global player, capable of shaking up the hierarchies established by traditional manufacturers. Chinese car manufacturer XPeng officially marked its entry into the local market during a large-scale launch event, which was also attended by the Automarket editorial team. Defined as a global brand focused on Physical AI technology, XPeng aims to change the rules of the game in the affordable premium segment, relying on an advanced technological suite, state-of-the-art electric platforms with record charging speeds and a strong commercial presence since its debut.

A tech giant with impressive global figures

Founded in Guangzhou in 2014, XPeng has grown at a dizzying pace, transforming itself from an ambitious startup into a major force in the global automotive industry. It is now the 7th largest global battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand by sales volume and the No. 1 Chinese startup in terms of overseas shipments.

Last year was a real turning point for XPeng, with the company reporting record global deliveries of 429,445 vehicles, a spectacular 126% increase over the previous period. With active operations in 60 countries, 9 dedicated R&D centers and massive investments of over $7.2 billion directed exclusively towards innovation, XPeng enters Romania directly from a position of strength.

Four showrooms at debut and a clear expansion strategy

Locally, the brand's destinies will be guided by a solid joint venture, formed by two giants of European automotive distribution and mobility: the Hungarian group AutoWallis and the Portuguese group Salvador Caetano Group. The debut strategy is a pragmatic one and quickly covers the main economic areas of the country.

In a first phase, four showrooms will be opened strategically located in Bucharest, Constanța, Iași and Brașov. Subsequently, the national network will be expanded by inaugurating representative offices in Timișoara and Cluj-Napoca, as well as by opening a second sales and assistance point in the Capital. For importers, Romania represents a major volume opportunity in the region, being the second most populous country in Central and Eastern Europe.
Launch portfolio: 4 models for all tastes

The initial range with which XPeng attacks the Romanian market includes four models extremely different in architecture and purpose (two SUVs, an elegant fastback and a futuristic MPV), but united by the same high-tech philosophy. Towards the end of the year, the range will be completed by two other zero-emission models equipped with extended autonomy systems (range extender).

Here are the full details and prices of the debut range:

1. XPeng G6: The coupé SUV ready to put pressure on the competition

The G6 is an SUV with a plunging silhouette, a length of 4.7 meters and a generous wheelbase of almost 3 meters. It stands out with an enviable aerodynamic coefficient (Cx of just 0.248). The interior is a true tech sanctuary: it offers electrically adjustable, heated, ventilated and massage seats, premium Nappa leather upholstery and an army of advanced driver assistance systems.

In Romania, the new G6 is available in 3 versions, with two battery options:

Standard Range (from 43,990 euros): 248 HP, 68.5 kWh battery, 480 km range.
Long Range (from 49,490 euros): 292 HP, 68.5 kWh battery, 535 km range.
AWD Performance (from 55,490 euros): 480 HP and 660 Nm, 80.8 kWh battery, 510 km range.

Noteworthy: The Long Range and Performance versions charge at DC stations with a record maximum power of 451 kW, meaning that the 10-80% charge takes just 12 minutes.

2. XPeng G9: Luxury and refinement in large sizes

Also in the SUV segment, but with superior dimensions, the G9 model reaches a length of 4.9 meters and a wheelbase of 3 meters. Intelligent air suspension is optionally available. The cabin adds to the premium chapter: massive 15-inch screens, Nappa upholstery, electrically adjustable seats with massage, a high-fidelity Dynaudio audio system with 20 acoustic speakers and 14 active safety systems offered as standard.

Three propulsion versions are available:

Standard Range (from 59,390 euros): 346 HP, 79 kWh battery, 502 km range.
Long Range (from 62,890 euros): 346 HP, 93.1 kWh battery, 585 km range.
Performance Range (from 73,890 euros): 575 HP, 93.1 kWh battery, 540 km range.

Large battery models (Long Range and Performance) take grid performance to another level, supporting DC charging power of up to 525 kW.

3. XPeng P7+: Fastback elegance with huge space

The P7+ is aimed at customers who prefer sedans with a sporty and fluid look. With a full length of 5 meters and a wheelbase of 3 meters, this fastback offers top interior comfort, dominated by a spectacular panoramic roof with an area of 3.2 square meters. The luggage compartment is extremely versatile and generous, with loading volume ranging from 573 to 1,930 liters.

Buyers can choose from three options:

Standard Range (from 44,890 euros): 245 HP, 61.7 kWh battery, 455 km range.
Long Range (from 48,890 euros): 313 HP, 74.9 kWh battery, 530 km range.
Performance Range (from 54,390 euros): 503 HP and 670 Nm of torque, 74.9 kWh battery, 500 km range.

At DC fast charging stations, the P7+ absorbs up to 446 kW, reducing the time for a 10-80% charge to just 12 minutes.

4. XPeng X9: The digital family MPV with a range of up to 600 km

The family vehicle (MPV) segment gets a completely sci-fi interpretation with the X9. It is configurable with 4, 5, 6 or 7 seats and is designed as a real lounge on wheels: rear passengers benefit from a massive 21.4-inch screen, and the atmosphere is maintained by an impressive audio system with 27 speakers.

The engine range includes:

RWD Standard (from 74,890 euros): 320 HP, 94.8 kWh battery, 525 km range.
Long Range (from 79,590 euros): 320 HP, 110 kWh battery, 600 km range.
Performance Range (from 89,390 euros): 503 HP and 640 Nm, 110 kWh battery, 560 km range.

For this top model, the electrical architecture allows for a colossal maximum charging power of 542 kW.

Conclusion: A wake-up call for European builders

XPeng's official debut in Romania confirms that the local market has become an irresistible attraction for the latest generation Asian manufacturers. Benefiting from the logistical support and expertise of the AutoWallis and Salvador Caetano networks, XPeng brings not just simple electric cars, but true computers on wheels, equipped with ultra-fast charging systems that are currently difficult to match by European competition.

With extremely aggressive starting prices — such as the threshold of under 44,000 euros for the G6 coupé SUV —, the new brand has all the arguments to quickly win a significant market share and accelerate the transition to sustainable mobility in Romania.
