Which new cars hold their value the best? In this article we will tell you, and for this we have collected the information provided by the car appraisal firms that use a wide variety of information to accurately assess the cost of a new car after several years. Thus, using this information, the Alfa Rent a Car Airport Cluj Napoca company has compiled a list of the cars from each major car manufacturer that depreciate the least. Basically, the cars are ranked in this list according to the percentage of the original price after they have completed three years and traveled 40 thousand kilometers because these figures correspond best to the car financing terms in Romania.
The California is the most value-retaining motorhome (camper van) from the German manufacturer Volkswagen. A new one has a starting price of 60 thousand euros and after three years it will still be worth 56.9% of this purchase price. This means that 26 thousand euros or 43% of the original price will be lost when selling it second hand because it will sell for just over 34 thousand euros.
Some limited edition cars retain their value very well and the McLaren 765LT is one of them and the British manufacturer will only build 765 pieces as the name suggests. The price of a new McLaren 765LT starts from 315 thousand euros and after three years it will still be worth 57.1% of this purchase price. Thus if you buy one and decide to sell it after three years then you will have to bear a loss of 135 thousand euros or 43% because it will be sold for 180 thousand euros. For those who can afford a McLaren it is not a large amount but probably just a fluctuation in the price of the shares held.
Next on the list is the German manufacturer Mercedes and the model that retains its highest value is part of the G-Class. These robust SUVs will still be worth 57.8% of the original new price of 115 thousand euros after three years. This means that 48 thousand euros or 42% of the original price will be lost at the sale, the selling price will be around 67 thousand euros.
Second-hand Ferraris have a reputation for massive depreciation in value, but the 812 Superfast bucked that trend. This super car with a V12 engine manages to keep 58% of its original price of 295 thousand euros after three years. So the lucky ones who can buy one can expect to suffer a loss of 42% or 124 thousand euros because they will sell it for 171 thousand euros. The V12 engine of this model sounds very good and this is probably why the Ferrari 812 Superfast depreciates so little.
The Honda Jazz is a small hybrid car, not very exciting in practice but instead holds its value very well. After three years Honda Jazz will be worth 58% of the original price of 21 thousand euros. This means that only 42% or 9000 euros will be lost when it sells for 12 thousand euros.
In 10th place is Polestar which is a Swedish brand that started by tuning Volvo models but nowadays builds its own cars and the one that keeps its value the best is Polestar 2. This electric SUV will be worth 58.2 % of its original price of 55 thousand euros after three years. Thus, when we sell it second hand, 42% or 23 thousand euros will be lost because the Polestar 2 will be worth 32 thousand euros.
We wouldn't have expected Aston Martin to occupy such a high spot on our list, but it seems the DBX SUV holds its value very well. After three years it will be worth 58.3% of its new price of 175 thousand euros. Thus, if you buy one now and sell it in three years, you will lose 73 thousand euros or 41.7% of the original price because it will be worth 102 thousand euros.
The Model 3 is the best-selling car from the manufacturer Tesla, but also the one that retains its value best compared to the Model S and Model X. This electric car will be worth 59.6% of the original price of 48 thousand euros after three years. When you sell it you will have to reduce the price by approximately 19 thousand euros or 40% because its value will be around 29 thousand euros. With these figures, the Tesla Model 3 is in the 7th position in our ranking and is the electric car that maintains its value the most.
The Prius is one of the most famous cars built by the Japanese manufacturer Toyota, but also the one that best retains its value from it. A new Prius will be worth after three years 59.7% of the original value of 28 thousand euros. This means that a used Toyota Prius will sell for €15,000 or 40% less than its new value.
Lamborghini has made its brand known with exotic supercars, but it is the Urus SUV that best maintains its value compared to any other model from Lamborghini and is ranked 6th in our Alfa Rent a Car Cluj Napoca car rental agency list. One of these SUVs starts at 180 thousand euros and after three years they will still be worth 60% of the original price. Its value will decrease by only 40% or 72 thousand euros, which is not a big depreciation for a Lamborghini, and it will be sold second-hand for 108 thousand euros. This is good news for those looking to sell but not so good for those looking to buy secondhand as their value is still very good.
Surprisingly the Lamborghini Urus isn't the best super SUV when it comes to second-hand prices, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan is even better. It will be worth 60.1% of the original new price, which starts at 300 thousand euros. Thus, after three years, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan will depreciate by 40% or 120 thousand euros because it will be sold second-hand for 180 thousand euros.
The Alpine A110 is a great little sports car that not only looks good but is an inspired buy because a used model that is three years old is still worth 61.1% of its original list price. Alpine A110 can be purchased for 55 thousand euros and after three years its value will decrease by only 39% or 21 thousand euros because it can be sold second-hand for about 34 thousand euros.
At this moment we have reached the podium and the 3rd place is occupied by the Audi RSQ3. This sporty SUV has a brilliant 5-cylinder engine that sounds great and owners will enjoy not only driving it but even selling it because after three years it will still be worth 63% of the price paid for it. An Audi RSQ3 starts again from 60 thousand euros and can be sold second-hand after three years for 38 thousand euros, 22 thousand euros or 37% of the original price will be lost.
The manufacturer Land Rover is not known for the reliability of its cars, but the new Defender model is very good when it comes to depreciation. Thus a new Land Rover Defender whose price starts from 50 thousand euros will be worth 63.1% after three years. It will be sold second-hand for 32 thousand euros because only 37 percent of the original price will be lost.
The 1st place on the podium with the cars that best maintain their value of the car rental agency Alfa Rent a Car Airport Cluj is occupied by the Porsche Macan. This SUV after three years will be worth 65% of the original price of 55 thousand euros. When it is sold second-hand, the owners will be able to ask for 36 thousand euros because the Macan will depreciate by only 35% or 19 thousand euros after three years and 40 thousand km on board. This is amazing considering that the Macan is an affordable model from the Porsche range and is based on an Audi Q5.
