After a break of just over two decades since the first generation was discontinued, the A2 nameplate returns to the Ingolstadt manufacturer's lineup. This time, the new generation is exclusively electric and represents the most affordable zero-emission model in the brand's portfolio. Ahead of its official launch scheduled for this fall, Audi has released a series of new official images that reveal the exterior design of the new compact hatchback in detail.
The new generation A2 e-tron adopts an aerodynamic body with rounded shapes, specially designed to minimize air friction. The German manufacturer announces an impressive aerodynamic coefficient of just 0.24 units.
The front is rounded and integrates LED headlights divided into two levels: the daytime running lights are slightly curved at the top, while the main lights are mounted lower, in the form of compact rectangular blocks. The roof plunges sharply towards the rear, where the line of sight is completed by elongated LED taillights, separated in the middle by the brand emblem.
Audi claims the new A2 e-tron is the most efficient model ever produced in the brand's history. The manufacturer has announced a preliminary average consumption of just 12.8 kWh/100 kilometers. One of the confirmed versions of the upcoming model will be equipped with a 190 horsepower engine.
At the heart of this performance is a battery with LFP (lithium iron phosphate) cells, mounted in an advanced cell-to-pack architecture. This technology eliminates intermediate modules to save space, reduce overall weight and increase energy density.
The new A2 e-tron is not just a means of transport, but also a mobile source of energy. The model is equipped with V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, which allows electronic devices or external appliances to be powered directly from the car's battery. The car also integrates the V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) system, offering the possibility of supplying electricity directly to the home network.
Designed as the most affordable electric model in the premium brand's portfolio, the Audi A2 e-tron will play a key role in democratizing the German electric range. The estimated starting price for European markets is around 38,000 - 40,000 euros for the basic version.
In Romania, the new model is expected to debut in orders shortly after the official launch in the fall, and the first deliveries to customers are expected to take place at the end of this year or early next year.
