The BMW Z4 has stopped production, but it is reborn from its own ashes - this is the new Bovensiepen Spider

The BMW Z4 is experiencing its second youth: The new Bovensiepen Spider brings the Bavarian roadster back to life

With the end of production of the BMW Z4 (G29 generation) this spring, fans of the classic front-engine, rear-wheel drive roadsters seemed to be witnessing the end of an iconic chapter. However, the legendary name behind the tuning house Alpina is returning to the forefront to prove that this model still has a lot to say. The company founded by the Bovensiepen family has officially launched the new Bovensiepen Spider, a high-performance and ultra-exclusive reinterpretation based on the BMW Z4 M40i.

The legend of Buchloe is reborn under a new name

After the rights to the Alpina brand were taken over by the BMW Group, the founding Bovensiepen family did not withdraw from the automotive world, but laid the foundations for a new independent brand dedicated to hand-built niche vehicles. The new workshop in Buchloe continues the tradition of transforming German models, offering not only more power, but a profound refinement of dynamics and style.

The Bovensiepen Spider marks a special moment: it is built on the structure of the latest generation Z4 M40i, bringing a pure roadster back to the market at a time when most major manufacturers are giving up on this segment.

Master's Touch: Design by Frank Stephenson

To differentiate the new Spider from the production model, Bovensiepen called on the services of one of the world's most renowned automotive designers, Frank Stephenson. The result is a subtle but unmistakable aesthetic package.

Visual exterior updates include an aerodynamically optimized front spoiler with a white brand name, modified air intakes in the wheel arches and new side skirts. The car rides on new 20-inch wheels with a brand-specific multi-spoke design.

Inside, the cabin combines fine leather with Alcantara, with each model receiving an individually numbered plaque. Buyers can also opt for full upholstery in ultra-exclusive Lavalina leather in 16 two-tone shades with custom stitching.

The mechanical recipe: 435 hp and refined chassis

Under the hood is the well-established 3.0-liter turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine (code B58). The engineers in Buchloe have applied substantial mechanical modifications:

The intake system has been completely redesigned, featuring an additional ram-air duct and a more permissive filter housing. The sports exhaust system has been reconfigured to reduce exhaust pressure and deliver a distinctive sound.

    ● Maximum output: 435 hp (320 kW) – an increase of 53 hp over the standard Z4 M40i.
    ● Maximum torque: 580 Nm – an increase of 80 Nm.

Dynamic performance & chassis modifications

    ● Acceleration 0–100 km/h: 4.2 seconds.
    ● Top speed: 260 km/h (limited as standard) or 295 km/h if the optional Performance Package is selected.

The road behavior has been refined by installing a V-shaped reinforcement under the chassis for increased rigidity, a new damper setting and longer auxiliary springs on the rear axle.

Absolute exclusivity: Only 99 copies

The Bovensiepen Spider will be an extremely rare presence on the road. Total production is limited to just 99 examples, hand-assembled in Germany, in Buchloe.

First deliveries to customers will begin in the first quarter of 2027. Each unit is custom-built and configured to the buyer's specific requirements.

Guide for Romanian buyers: Orders, price and delivery

Can Romanians order this car? Yes, Romanians can order the new Bovensiepen Spider. Due to Romania's status as a member of the European Union and the European single market, interested customers can place their order directly with the manufacturing company Bovensiepen Automobile GmbH in Buchloe, Germany.

What is the real price and how much does a complete configuration cost?

    ● Basic starting price: In Germany, the official price starts at 115,500 euros (including 19% German VAT). The net price (excluding taxes) is approximately 97,050 euros.
    ● Price with top options: With the performance packages (Performance Package for a top speed of 295 km/h), the full Lavalina leather interior (~9,900 euros), the special calipers and the personalized graphic details, the final price reaches 130,000 – 134,000 euros.

Practical aspects for purchasing from Romania:

1. Taxes and VAT: For an individual buying a car in Germany, the VAT rate applied is 19% (identical to that in Romania), so the gross price paid to the manufacturer covers the value added tax. Legal entities can purchase the car intra-community at the net price, paying the VAT directly in Romania.

2. Transport and homologation: Delivery of the vehicle to Romania on a specialized platform costs on average between 1,500 and 2,500 euros. Being built on the European type homologation of the BMW Z4 (G29) platform, the process of issuing the identity card at the RAR is straightforward.

3. Reservation procedure: Given the limited run of only 99 units globally, production slots are being allocated quickly. Interested Romanian buyers should contact the Bovensiepen sales department directly to pay the deposit and lock in a delivery slot for early 2027.
