Success for Dacia Bigster: 100.000 units in just 12 months of production

Dacia Bigster: The "Big Brother" conquers Europe – 100,000 units produced in just one year

Dacia has once again demonstrated that its "smart buy" recipe knows no limits. Just one year after the start of production at the Mioveni plant, the brand's newest and most ambitious model, Dacia Bigster, has reached the symbolic milestone of 100,000 units manufactured.

This achievement confirms that Dacia's transition to the C (compact) segment was a successful strategic move, managing to attract customers who wanted space and technology, without paying premium segment prices.

A "homemade" anniversary copy

Ironically, although over 95% of production is exported, the 100,000th model remains in the country. This is a Hybrid 155 model, painted in the elegant Indigo Blue shade with a contrasting black roof, destined for a customer in Romania.

The choice of engine is not at all surprising: statistics show that two-thirds of buyers opted for the hybrid version, a sign that the Dacia public is increasingly oriented towards efficiency and sustainability.

Export, the engine of success in Mioveni

Although Romanians have started to adopt the model (almost 3,500 units sold locally), the real battle was won on foreign markets. Bigster is currently one of Romania's best industrial "ambassadors".

Market Units Sold (approx.)
France 16,300
Germany 13,700
Spain 4,500
Italy 4,000
Romania 3,500

The success is mainly due to the higher trim levels. The Journey and Extreme versions account for 90% of sales, dispelling the myth that Dacia only sells "basic" cars.

A showcase full of trophies

It's not just the sales figures that impress, but also the international recognition. In the last year, Bigster has collected 19 awards, proving that it can sit at the same table with established rivals.

United Kingdom: "Best Family SUV" title (The News UK Motor Awards).
    Germany: "Best Affordable SUV."
Europe: Finalist in the "Car of the Year 2026" competition.

These distinctions validate the technical platform and robust design, which transformed Bigster from a promise (the 2021 concept) into a solid reality on European roads.

Conclusion

Dacia Bigster is not just a longer Duster; it is the maturation of a brand that has learned to offer exactly what the modern consumer needs: generous space, efficient hybrid engines and a design with personality, all at a fair price. The 100,000 unit milestone reached in a single year is just the beginning of a story that promises to redefine the compact SUV segment in Europe.

If the current trend continues, the Mioveni plant will need all the resources to keep up with external demand, while also keeping Romania on the map of global automotive relevance.
