Launched on the international scene exactly ten years ago, the Czech brand's large SUV quickly became one of the most successful models in its European segment. With a solid presence in over 70 countries and over 1.2 million units assembled to date, the model continues to play a crucial role in the manufacturer's portfolio, being the brand's second best-selling vehicle last year. To mark its decade on the market, the range receives a series of major improvements aimed at enhancing both dynamic performance and refinement.
Since its official public debut in Berlin, the Kodiaq has redefined the standards of space, versatility and price-quality ratio in the mid-size SUV class.
● Sales performance: With over 1.2 million units delivered globally, the model has established itself as a top choice for families and fleets alike.
● Importance in the range: Even with the transition to the new generation, demand has remained extremely high, with Kodiaq consolidating its second position in the brand's global deliveries. This maturity of the range provides the ideal context for the introduction of advanced technological versions and exclusive equipment packages.
The most important new feature under the hood aims to expand the electrified portfolio by adopting a high-performance Plug-in Hybrid propulsion system, similar to the one recently implemented on the brand's flagship.
● Increased power: The new system delivers a combined total output of 272 horsepower and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, up from the previous hybrid version of 204 hp.
● Thermal efficiency: The 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine has been optimized to develop 177 horsepower (the classic 204 hp option remains available in the configurator).
● Extended autonomy: The assembly is powered by a battery with a gross capacity of 25.7 kWh, allowing pure electric driving for a distance of over 100 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. Power transmission to the front axle is carried out via a dedicated automatic gearbox.
For customers who want a premium user experience, the brand is re-introducing the top-of-the-line Laurin & Klement (L&K) trim level to the range, a tribute to the founders of the company from Mladá Boleslav.
● Interior ambience: Inside, the package is based on the sophisticated Suite and Suite Cognac themes, complemented by special floor mats, pedals with aluminum inserts and embroidered L&K logos on the steering wheel and front seat headrests.
● Ergonomic comfort: The front seats are AGR-certified (German Association for Back Health) and feature a comprehensive massage function. Standard equipment also includes 3-zone automatic climate control and a 13-inch central touchscreen.
● Exterior aesthetics: On the outside, the L&K version is distinguished by exclusively metallic paint shades, dedicated 19 or 20-inch wheels, Matrix LED headlights offered as standard and discreet inscriptions that attest to the top-of-the-range status of the equipment.
Positioned at the absolute top of the hierarchy for the Kodiaq model, the new top-of-the-range L&K equipment will reflect through its cost the high level of features and advanced integrated technologies.
1. Price level: Considering that well-equipped variants in the lower segments (such as the Selection or Sportline levels) are typically placed in the range of 40,000 – 44,000 euros depending on the options, the L&K version will naturally move up to the upper segment.
2. Estimates for Romania: On the local market, estimated starting prices for the new Laurin & Klement equipment level are expected to be between 46,000 and 54,000 euros (VAT included). The final value will vary depending on the engine chosen, with variants equipped with the new 272 HP Plug-in Hybrid system or all-wheel drive set to be positioned at the upper end of this range.
