Renault launches Trafic E-Tech: an electric van with impressive range

Renault E-Tech brings 450 km of autonomy to the utility vehicle segment with the new Trafic

The new Renault Trafic E-Tech, officially unveiled on November 18, 2025, marks a giant leap in the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment, offering a first-generation all-electric vehicle with performance that exceeds current standards. With an extended range of up to 450 kilometers and 800-volt ultra-fast charging technology, the model is designed to become a benchmark for efficiency for professionals. So, what does the new Trafic E-Tech bring and when can we expect it on the Romanian market?

Class-Leading Autonomy and 800V Architecture

The heart of the new Trafic E-Tech is its electric powertrain and advanced architecture. Unlike the previous electric generation, the new model, developed under the Ampere division of the Renault Group, comes equipped with an 800-volt architecture. This innovation, usually found on premium electric vehicles, allows for minimal downtime: a quick charge from 15% to 80% takes just 20 minutes, a crucial advantage for freight transport.

The model will be offered in two battery versions:

Long Range (NMC): Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt battery, which ensures a remarkable range of up to 450 kilometers in the WLTP cycle.
Standard (LFP): Lithium-Iron-Phosphate battery, intended for predominantly urban use, with a range of 350 kilometers in WLTP mode.

Regardless of the battery chosen, the electric motor develops a power of 204 horsepower and a torque of 345 Nm, offering superior dynamic performance. In addition, Trafic E-Tech comes equipped with V2L (Vehicle to Load) and V2G (Vehicle to Grid) technologies, transforming the utility vehicle into a mobile energy source for powering tools, equipment or even the home's electrical network. The towing capacity is also impressive, reaching up to 2 tons, with a maximum payload of 1.25 tons.

Futuristic Design and Smart Space

The new body design is marked by a pronounced aerodynamics, optimized for electric efficiency. The front end integrates modern LED light signatures, the illuminated Renault logo and the main headlights mounted low in the bumper. At the rear, slim taillights, sculpted using 3D printing, underline the streamlined and futuristic look.

Trafic E-Tech is available in two body variants, L1 and L2, with a height of 1.90 meters:

L1 (short): Length 4.87 meters, load capacity 5.1 cubic meters.
L2 (long): Length of 5.27 meters, load capacity of 5.8 cubic meters.

Inside, the cabin is completely digitalized and reimagined for professionals. The 10-inch digital dashboard is complemented by a 12-inch central screen that houses the new OpenR Evo multimedia system. It runs on the Android-based CAR OS operating system, integrating Google services for top-notch navigation and connectivity. Storage spaces are omnipresent, from cup and document holders under the central screen, to deep areas on the dashboard and in the door panels.

Launch on the Romanian Market and Estimated Price

Although the production version was presented worldwide in November 2025, production of the new Renault Trafic E-Tech will only start towards the end of 2026 at the plant in Sandouville, France.

The launch on the Romanian market will align with the European production calendar. Given that production will start at the end of 2026, the first units and implicitly the official launch in the country are expected to take place during 2027.

Estimated Price

Currently, prices for the previous electric version of the Trafic E-Tech (with a range of 294 km, power of 122 hp) are around €38,000 – €40,000 (promotional price, excluding VAT, or after applying government programs).

Due to the major technological leap (increased range to 450 km, 204 hp engine and 800V architecture), we can expect the new generation to have a considerably higher list price.

The estimated starting price for the new Renault Trafic E-Tech (extended range version, 450 km) will be approximately €50,000 - €55,000 (net price, before state subsidies, valid at the time of launch in 2027).

Once the model is available in Romania, the final price for customers will benefit from subsidies offered through programs such as Rabla Plus, making the purchase much more affordable for fleets and companies that want to switch to electric mobility.
