The Swedish manufacturer of performance electric cars has officially unveiled the new Polestar 4 SUV. The version derived from the original SUV Coupé model comes to directly respond to the demands of customers who wanted more space, increased daily utility and a classic premium crossover allure.
Positioned in the compact executive SUV segment, the Polestar 4 SUV combines the brand's performance DNA and refinement with extensive cargo volume and features designed for an active lifestyle.
The Polestar 4 SUV retains the dual-blade headlamps and illuminated Polestar logo, but the most significant visual evolution comes at the rear: the roofline has been straightened and the tailgate has become more vertical to maximise interior space.
A major change from the coupé is the presence of a conventional glass rear window. Polestar has also discreetly integrated a rear wiper with sprayer under the rear spoiler, while keeping the body surfaces clean.
Exterior innovations include:
● Roof rails: Fitted as standard, these increase the dynamic roof load capacity by up to 100 kg.
● Expanded palette of 8 colours: New shades such as Aurora (a shimmering greenish silver) and Ozone Matte (a matte purple silver) offer a contemporary look.
● New 22-inch wheels: Dedicated design that emphasises the firm and athletic proportions of the SUV.
The interior retains the minimalist Scandinavian philosophy, inspired by the solar system. The ambient lighting offers 9 cosmic themes, complemented by the Star Knit decorative element.
Extra headroom and smart panoramic roof. Thanks to the straighter shape of the rear section, rear seat passengers benefit from an extra 2.5 centimetres of headroom. The feeling of space is enhanced by the new panoramic glass roof.
| Interior Feature | Technical Details & Functions |
| Optional electrochromic roof | Allows opacity adjustment via the central screen (fully transparent, tinted, or selectively shaded sections). Standard 99.5% UV protection. |
| Harman Kardon Sound System | Optional, with 12 speakers, 1,400-Watt channel-hybrid amplifier, and acoustic tuning specifically adjusted for the SUV cabin. |
| Rear-view mirror | Conventional mirror as standard equipment (thanks to the rear window). The digital camera-based rear-view mirror remains available as a single option. |
Eco-responsible materials
Polestar continues its strict carbon footprint policy:
● Bio-attributed MicroTech: Upholstery made from 100% recycled PET and PVC surface with 53% bio content.
● Tailored Knit: 3D-knitted textile material (89% recycled PET) to eliminate production waste.
● Bridge of Weir Nappa Leather: Chrome-free leather, sourced from the food industry with strict animal welfare standards and full traceability.
The versatility of the new Polestar 4 SUV is reflected in the boot and storage space figures:
● 530 litres: Rear load volume measured to the level of the seat backrest.
● 655 litres: Load volume measured to the level of the roof.
● 1,665 litres: Volume obtained by folding the rear seat back (60/40).
● 1,680 litres: Total storage capacity, taking into account the secondary compartments and the front space (frunk).
Built on the efficient 400 V architecture, the Polestar 4 SUV benefits from a 100 kWh battery and a maximum fast charging power of up to 200 kW.
| Specification | Rear Version (RWD) | Dual Version (AWD) |
| Electric motors | 1 motor (rear axle) | 2 motors (all-wheel drive) |
| Max power | 272 hp (200 kW) | 544 hp (400 kW) |
| Max torque | 343 Nm | 686 Nm |
| Acceleration 0–100 km/h | 7.3 seconds | 3.9 seconds |
| WLTP Range | Up to 630 km | Up to 600 km |
The chassis settings have been readjusted to provide a balance between the brand's signature sporty dynamics and optimal long-distance comfort.
The digital interface is anchored by the central screen in landscape format. The operating system receives a significant ergonomic update: the number of shortcuts (widgets) available on the main screen has increased from 6 to 9.
The most important technological innovation is the integration of the Google Gemini artificial intelligence model:
● Natural voice commands: Gemini replaces traditional rigid commands, understanding context and enabling multi-turn dialogue.
● Gemini Live: Enables real-time assistance for brainstorming, route planning or instant translations while on the go.
● Connected ecosystem: Over-The-Air (OTA) updates keep the system up to date without service visits.
For lovers of travel and nature outings, the new Polestar 4 SUV introduces the Camping mode function.
Once activated from the central display, the parked vehicle becomes a climate-controlled space. The module provides direct access to the entertainment system, ambient lighting and car settings from the front or rear displays. All supported by V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capability, which allows external devices to be powered from the vehicle battery, alongside USB-C ports and the classic 12V socket.
The new Polestar 4 SUV marks its competitive positioning in the luxury electric crossover segment through an attractive price range in relation to the performance and level of equipment offered.
The official starting price range is structured as follows:
1. Polestar 4 SUV Rear (RWD): from 57,900 Euros (272 HP, range up to 630 km WLTP).
2. Polestar 4 SUV Dual (AWD): from 65,900 Euros (544 HP, 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds).
Although the Polestar brand operates with a predominantly digital sales model (direct online ordering in European markets), customers in Romania will be able to purchase the new model either through the brand's extensive official channels at a European level, or through partner networks and authorized dealers within the group.
● Order launch and deliveries: The opening of order lists is expected in the coming period, with the first deliveries for European and Romanian customers estimated to start at the end of 2026 or at the beginning of 2027.
● Subsidies and incentives: Depending on the conditions of the Rabla Plus Program at the time of delivery, individual or legal entity buyers in Romania could benefit from eco-bonuses for 100% electric vehicles, thus reducing the final purchase cost.
● Warranty and services: The new model will include the standard warranty package offered by the Swedish manufacturer, covering the vehicle and the high-voltage battery (100 kWh), with access to roadside assistance and maintenance services through the Volvo/Polestar partner service network.
