Leapmotor expands its range in Romania: The new B10 Hybrid EV SUV debuts with a range of 900 km

Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor is consolidating its presence on the Romanian car market by launching the new B10 Hybrid EV. Positioned in the popular C-SUV segment, the new model promises to solve the problem of autonomy anxiety by using range extender technology (EREV), offering a total autonomy of up to 900 kilometers and an attractive starting price: 25,990 euros (VAT included, through the Rabla Program).

EREV Philosophy: Pure electric propulsion, no worries about charging

Unlike classic hybrids or conventional plug-in hybrid models, the new Leapmotor B10 Hybrid EV relies on an architecture based on the principle of the Extended-Range Electric Vehicle.

The electric motor provides the power at all times, providing the instant torque and acoustic comfort of a 100% electric car. The 1.5-liter gasoline engine has no direct mechanical connection to the wheels and never drives them; its role is exclusively to function as a 50 kW generator to recharge the battery on the go.

Energy menu: 4 distinct running modes

To optimize consumption and resources depending on the road scenario, the energy management system provides four selectable options:

1. EV+: Prioritizes maximum use of the 18.8 kWh battery, ideal for daily urban commuting, with the combustion engine completely off.
2. EV: Maintains electric driving, but allows the generator to be automatically activated when the battery energy level drops below a certain limit.
3. Fuel: Designed for long highway trips; conserves remaining battery power and prioritizes use of the gasoline generator.
4. Power+: Combines the resources of the electric motor with those generated in real time by the range extender to deliver maximum performance when overtaking or climbing steep slopes.

Digitalized interior and top technology

Inside, the Leapmotor B10 Hybrid EV adopts a minimalist yet highly technological approach. The command center is the LEAP OS 4.0 Plus operating system, supported by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 hardware architecture.

• Central display: 14.6-inch touchscreen with 2.5K resolution.
• Connectivity: Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (both wired and wireless).
• One Pedal Driving: Introduced via over-the-air (OTA) software updates, this feature allows acceleration and braking to a stop using a single pedal, thanks to the optimized deceleration energy recovery system.

Dimensions, safety and versions for Romania

With a length of 4,530 mm and a generous wheelbase of 2,735 mm, the B10 Hybrid EV fits perfectly within the compact class norms, offering an airy interior space for passengers and luggage.

Safety is supported by a high-torsional body structure, 7 standard airbags and a comprehensive package of 17 driver assistance systems (ADAS). The manufacturer also mentions improvements to the Adaptive Cruise Control system and the lane-keeping function.
