The segment of 100% electric cars of subcompact dimensions receives a new weight competitor on the European market. On the occasion of the 91st edition of the Paris Motor Show, the Chinese manufacturer Leapmotor officially unveiled the new B03, an urban hatchback specially designed to attract the public with advanced technologies, efficiency and an extremely attractive price-quality ratio.
The new Leapmotor B03 is intelligently positioned in the manufacturer's portfolio, fitting exactly between the T03 and B05 models. Through its dimensions and specifications, the vehicle enters into direct competition with the most popular European electric models of the moment, having as its main target established rivals such as the Renault 5 E-Tech, Volkswagen ID. Polo and Cupra Raval.
On the outside, the new B03 relies on a clean visual approach, adopting a conventional, yet extremely modern and attractive hatchback design.
● Front: It is marked by compact LED headlights and a flowing bumper that optimizes airflow.
● Profile and rear: The door handles are hidden in the bodywork for a favorable aerodynamic coefficient, while the small LED taillights emphasize the minimalist appearance of the rear.
● Two-tone style: For added personalization, customers can opt for a roof painted in a contrasting shade of black, creating a distinctive two-tone visual effect.
The new model's interior relies on simplified ergonomics, largely abandoning traditional physical buttons in favor of advanced digital solutions.
● Main screens: The driving position integrates an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster for the driver and a generous 14.6-inch central touchscreen, dedicated to the multimedia system and connectivity functions.
● Ambience: The door panels benefit from sophisticated ambient lighting, and the steering wheel is equipped with haptic controls. Almost all climate controls and car settings are digitally integrated.
The European version of the new Leapmotor B03 promotes agile behavior both in urban environments and on national roads. Under the body is a high-performance electric motor that develops 197 horsepower, transmitted to the front axle, ensuring vigorous acceleration and excellent dynamics.
Energy efficiency is supported by a battery pack optimized for everyday use:
● Capacity and range: The battery has a capacity of 53 kWh, offering a range of up to 392 kilometers in the WLTC cycle (valid for the top Promax version), ideal for daily commuting and short weekend trips.
● Charging performance: The electric system supports high-power stations, allowing a quick charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes.
Although Leapmotor has not yet published the final official price lists for all European markets, the brand's strategy aims to maintain an extremely competitive purchase cost in the compact electric car segment.
● Launch and marketing: The new model is scheduled to gradually reach the European distribution network, with the first deliveries on the Romanian market being estimated for next year.
● Estimated prices in Romania: Given its positioning as an affordable alternative in the electric B segment, the estimated prices for the Romanian market are forecast to be between 22,000 and 26,000 euros (VAT included), amounts that can be optimized by accessing national programs to stimulate the purchase of ecological cars (Rabla Plus).
