South Korean automaker Kia is taking its electrification strategy to a new level by expanding its GT performance lineup to three of its most iconic models in its recent portfolio: the EV3, EV4 and EV5. Rather than limiting the GT badge exclusively to top-of-the-line models like the EV6 or EV9, Kia is bringing its sporty DNA to the compact and mid-size segments. The goal is clear: to democratize electric performance and add dynamism to cars designed for everyday use.
The transition to zero-emission mobility is thus given an emotional boost. The new GT variants come equipped with dual-electric motor architectures, all-wheel drive, a significant increase in power and a suite of technologies designed to enhance driver engagement.
The defining technical feature of the new GT models is the all-wheel drive (AWD) system, achieved by placing an electric motor on each axle. This configuration not only offers increased grip on low-grip surfaces, but also variable torque distribution for agile handling on winding roads.
To eliminate the feeling of "sterility" sometimes accused of performance electric vehicles, Kia has integrated a series of technological innovations:
● Virtual Gear Shift (VGS): An intelligent system that simulates the shifting of a sequential gearbox. VGS momentarily interrupts the torque delivery and simulates a fine mechanical shock when changing the “gears”, providing the driver with the tactile feedback specific to a conventional sports transmission.
● Active Sound Design (ASD): Advanced acoustic mode that generates a simulated internal combustion engine sound in the cabin, synchronized with acceleration and road speed.
● GT Mode: Instantly activated via the dedicated button on the steering wheel, this driving mode modifies the accelerator pedal response, stiffens the adaptive suspension and firms the steering for precise control.
● Launch Control & Performance Timer: Functions dedicated to number enthusiasts, allowing optimal starts from a standstill and timing of 0–100 km/h sprints or short-distance laps.
Aesthetically, the GT versions stand out with aggressive visual details, which clearly differentiate them from the standard or GT-Line variants:
● Neon green accents: The signature Kia GT color is featured on the seat stitching, seat belts, steering wheel center marker and GT button.
● Exclusive 20-inch wheels: With an aerodynamic yet imposing design, the large wheels house an optimized braking system.
● Contoured sports seats: Upholstered in suede-like materials, the exclusive seats provide excellent lateral support during tight turns.
● New GT steering wheel: Sporty three-spoke design, contrasting stitching and redesigned ergonomics.
● Personalized digital interface: The instrument cluster and center display receive dedicated GT graphics, displaying data on power delivery, battery temperature and performance indicators.
Kia EV3 GT – The compact and agile crossover

● Acceleration 0–100 km/h: 5.6 seconds
● Range (WLTP): Hatchback: 505 kilometers and Fastback: 537 kilometers (due to higher aerodynamic coefficient)
● Positioning: With a lower center of gravity compared to SUVs in the range, the EV4 GT is the fastest of this trio and offers extremely incisive road holding.
Kia EV5 GT – the family SUV with supercar qualities

● Acceleration 0–100 km/h: 6.2 seconds
● Battery capacity: 81.4 kWh
● Autonomy (WLTP): 476 kilometers
● Positioning: The largest model in the group combines the generous space and versatility of a mid-size SUV with the power reserve necessary for quick overtaking and effortless long journeys.
The range consisting of the Kia EV3 GT, EV4 GT and EV5 GT is scheduled to make its commercial debut in the European dealer network, and will gradually reach the Romanian market. Based on the list prices communicated for the Western European markets, where the performance versions are positioned as top of the range, the estimated level reflects the exclusivity and superior technical package.
