Hyundai is expanding its electric vehicle range by launching a new top-of-the-line version of its large three-row SUV, the Ioniq 9. Called Calligraphy Black Ink, the new trim level sits above the current Calligraphy line and brings a dark aesthetic, refined finishes and a full list of standard features to all European markets where the South Korean brand operates.
Built on the E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) architecture, the new Ioniq 9 Calligraphy Black Ink forgoes traditional chrome elements in favor of a monochromatic and discreet visual package:
● Exclusive exterior colors: The model can be ordered in only two exterior colors – Serenity White Pearl or Abyss Black Pearl.
● Black exterior details: The Hyundai emblem on the front has a matte black finish, while the skid plates, rear trim and window frames receive a glossy black finish and Black Chrome.
● Exclusive wheels: The trim level comes standard with 21-inch alloy wheels with a dedicated design, finished entirely in black.
Inside, the Calligraphy Black Ink version continues the dark color theme, emphasizing premium materials and attention to detail:
● Black Nappa leather upholstery: The seats receive a dedicated stitching pattern, and the steering wheel is fully wrapped in fine black leather.
● Real aluminum inserts: The dashboard and door panels are decorated with black aluminum trim with artisanal textures.
● Full equipment: Includes Relaxation modular seats for the first two rows, Universal Island 2.0 sliding console, eco-suede headliner and Bose premium audio system with 14 speakers.
From a technical point of view, the Black Ink version relies on the most powerful configuration in the Ioniq 9 range:
● Dual-Motor AWD System: Develops a total power of 428 hp (315 kW) and a torque of 700 Nm.
● 110.3 kWh Battery: Provides an estimated range of approximately 600 km in the WLTP combined cycle.
● Ultra-fast charging: Thanks to the 800V electrical architecture, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes at a 350 kW DC station.
In Romania, the current top variant Ioniq 9 Performance Calligraphy (110.3 kWh, 428 HP, 4WD) has a recommended list price of 83,853 euros including VAT.
The flagship status of the new Calligraphy Black Ink version also brings the unique aesthetic package, dedicated 21-inch wheels and black aluminum interior trim, which is why the starting price will be slightly higher.

The opening of orders for the Calligraphy Black Ink level on European markets and in Romania is estimated for the second half of this year, with the first deliveries to customers expected towards the end of the year or early next year.
