Solid-state batteries are the Holy Grail of the electric car industry, the ultimate promise that could finally eliminate anxiety about range and long charging times. While much of the industry is cautiously experimenting with this cutting-edge technology, Chinese giant Geely is picking up the pace and announcing that it will begin pilot testing its next-generation solid-state batteries in 2027.
The new batteries developed by the research divisions of the Geely group come with technical specifications that rewrite the rules of the game in electric mobility. With an energy density of 500 Wh/kg – approximately twice as high as the current best-performing lithium-ion cells –, the new technology promises performance that has been difficult to match so far.
● Top autonomy: Vehicles equipped with these batteries will exceed the psychological threshold of 1,000 kilometers on a single charge, a value comparable to that of cars equipped with conventional internal combustion engines.
● Extreme longevity: Company representatives estimate a battery life of up to one million kilometers, which will radically change the used car market and the resale value of electric vehicles.
● Extensive ecosystem: The technology will not be reserved for a single brand, but will progressively equip models from the group's vast portfolio, including reference names such as Zeekr, Volvo, Lynk & Co, Polestar, Lotus and Smart.
After the validation phase in real conditions, the pilot tests scheduled for 2027 represent the decisive step towards their introduction into large-scale production.
While the innovations of the future take shape in laboratories, the Geely group's presence on the Romanian market shows a remarkable rise and an intelligent adaptation to the demands of local customers. Through a constantly expanding dealer network – with offices in the major cities of the country –, the brand has managed to quickly gain visibility and trust.
Geely's offer on the Romanian market relies on versatility, modern design and electrified technologies adapted to the European public:
● Geely Coolray and Cityray: dynamic and affordable compact SUVs, appreciated for their excellent price-quality ratio and rich technological features.
● Geely Starray and hybrid versions: An important pillar in the sales strategy, offering increased efficiency thanks to advanced propulsion technologies.
● Geely EX5: 100% electric propulsion represented by an intelligent SUV, oriented towards generous space and zero emissions.
Geely's strategy in Romania was distinguished by attractive promotional campaigns and efficient integration into green purchasing incentive programs, such as the Rabla and Rabla Plus programs. Substantial price discounts offered in the form of customer benefits transformed Asian models into highly competitive alternatives to traditional competitors.
By combining robust cars, equipped with advanced multimedia systems and a complex active safety package, Geely has successfully moved from newcomer status to that of a volume brand followed with interest by Romanian drivers.
