In the world of urban logistics, where time is money and every kilometer counts, Ford Pro has just raised the stakes. The youngest of the electric utility family, the E-Transit Courier, produced at the Ford Otosan plant in Craiova, benefits from a technical update designed to eliminate “range anxiety” and transform the cabin into an ultra-connected mobile office.
It's not just about a simple aesthetic facelift, but about an "under the hood" optimization that transforms the little giant from Oltenia into a much more efficient work tool.
The most important new feature concerns the “heart” of the vehicle. The useful battery capacity has been increased from 43 kWh to 46 kWh. Although the increase seems modest on paper, in reality the system’s efficiency has been refined by reducing the buffer between the total and usable capacity.
New range: Up to 334 km (WLTP).
Performance boost: An increase of over 10% over the previous version.
Constant power: The electric motor continues to deliver 136 hp (100 kW), enough to handle the 700 kg payload.
Ford understands that a courier doesn't have time to waste near a power outlet. The new charging system has been optimized to minimize downtime:
At DC stations (100 kW): In just 10 minutes, the battery receives energy for an additional 114 kilometers. The 10% to 80% charge now takes less than 30 minutes.
At headquarters/warehouse (AC 11 kW): A 10-80% charge is completed in approximately 3 hours, ideal for shift rotation.
The new E-Transit Courier is not only powerful, but also extremely alert. The model integrates a 5G modem that enables intelligent traffic-based route planning and easy access to the Electroverse network, giving drivers a hassle-free charging experience across Europe.
In terms of safety, the Driver Alert system has been taken to a new level. It no longer only detects classic fatigue, but also subtle signs of driver distraction or potential sudden health problems, consolidating the Euro NCAP Platinum safety title that the model already holds.
A plus for tradespeople: The Pro Power Onboard system provides a 230V (400W) socket in the cabin. You can charge power tools, laptops or other equipment directly from the vehicle's large battery, eliminating the need for external generators on the construction site.
The E-Transit Courier remains a source of local pride, being assembled on the Craiova plant lines. Although official prices for the updated version are yet to be announced, the model positions itself as an unbeatable solution for fleets looking to go green without compromising productivity.
With this upgrade, Ford reconfirms that the future of light freight transport is electric, connected and, most importantly, efficient in real-world conditions.
