In an auto industry that sometimes seems to have forgotten how to be “chic” in its pursuit of raw efficiency, DS Automobiles strikes again. The French brand has officially unveiled the new DS N°7, the successor to the much-loved DS 7. It’s not just a name change or a simple facelift; it’s a statement of technological and aesthetic independence, designed to demonstrate that luxury and sustainability can coexist without compromise.
At first glance, the DS N°7 retains the balanced proportions that made its predecessor a success, but everything is now sharper, more fluid. With a length increased to 4.66 meters (an increase of 7 cm), the car gains in presence, but especially in interior space, thanks to a wheelbase extended to 2.79 meters.
The most spectacular visual change is at the level of the optical blocks. The new design language, inaugurated by the “brother” DS N°8, brings the signature DS LIGHT BLADE — a set of V-shaped lights that frame the illuminated DS LUMINASCREEN grille. The result? A figure that seems detached from the future, but which remains unmistakably French.
From a technical point of view, the silhouette is not only beautiful, but also incredibly efficient. With an aerodynamic coefficient (Cd) of just 0.26, DS N°7 cuts through the air with the precision of a scalpel, a crucial detail for the record-breaking range of the electric version.
The big star of the launch is undoubtedly the 100% electric E-TENSE version. The DS N°7 dispels “range anxiety” with a 97.2 kWh battery (produced in France itself) which promises up to 740 km of range on a single charge (WLTP cycle).
The range of engines is surprisingly diverse:
E-TENSE FWD (Electric): 230 HP or 245 HP (Long Range).
E-TENSE AWD (Electric): 350 HP (with a temporary boost to 375 HP), capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds.
HYBRID: A 145 HP version for those not yet ready to make the full step towards electric, offering a combined consumption of 5.4 l/100 km and the ability to run up to 50% of the time in electric mode in urban environments.
When it comes to charging, the French have made great progress: a session from 20% to 80% takes only 27 minutes at a fast station, and 10 minutes at the outlet brings an additional 190 km of autonomy.
The interior of the DS N°7 is a technological sanctuary. The centerpiece is the 16-inch screen running DS IRIS SYSTEM 2.0, a system that now natively integrates ChatGPT. This means you can have natural conversations with your car, whether you want to learn the history of a castle on the route or find the best brasserie in the area.
Safety has not been forgotten, with DS N°7 being equipped with systems rare in its segment:
DS NIGHT VISION: An infrared camera that detects pedestrians or animals at night at a distance of 300 meters.
DS PIXELVISION: Adaptive headlights that can "hit" up to 520 meters without blinding other drivers.
DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION: A camera scans the road in real time and adjusts the suspension to “smooth out” potholes before the wheel hits them.
When you enter the cabin, you immediately feel that the DS is playing in the big leagues of refinement. From the Nappa leather worked in a “watch strap” pattern to the real wood or engraved aluminum inserts, everything breathes quality.
The seats are not only heated and ventilated, but also come with the DS NECK WARMER function (a jet of warm air at the neck level) and massage. And for music lovers, the FOCAL Electra 3D audio system with 14 speakers promises a live concert experience directly in the driver's seat.
Orders for the new model have already been opened (starting on March 17, 2026), the first version available being the DS N°7 E-TENSE 230 HP Business Line, at a starting price of 64,200 euros. Although manufactured in Italy (Melfi), the heart of the car — the batteries and the engines — remains a product of French engineering.
The new DS N°7 is not just a successor, but a mature evolution that puts France on the map of electric car manufacturers capable of competing on an equal footing with the German or American giants, but with a style that the latter will never be able to copy.
