The Ingolstadt-based company is redefining its top-of-the-range portfolio and is officially presenting the new Audi Q9 (2027), the largest and most imposing SUV ever built by the German manufacturer. Positioned directly as the new flagship of the range, the new model combines colossal dimensions with the brand's latest technological innovations in lighting, range and high-level comfort.
The market debut will be made with a V6 diesel mild-hybrid engine, designed to offer an optimal balance between refinement, performance and long-distance efficiency.
The Audi Q9 impresses at first sight with its massive proportions and an authoritative presence on the road:

The front is marked by the oversized Singleframe grille, integrated into a flawless black grille that plunges deep into the bumper. The grille can be optionally equipped with LED lighting. Digital OLED 3.0 Curved Taillights
The rear of the car features a world first in the production car industry: third-generation curved Digital OLED panels. With glass just 0.1 mm thick, they faithfully follow the body lines.
Equipped with 512 individual segments spread across 6 panels (99 on the outside, 84 in the center, 73 on the inside), the taillights offer partially active light signals, increased visibility from the side and continuous LED strips that connect the illuminated Audi logo.
In addition, the car integrates road projection signals (which project the signal graphics onto the ground in sync with the vehicle's lights) and communication light – a system that warns other road users by displaying a warning triangle on the taillights in case of danger or sudden braking.
The interior of the new Audi Q9 emphasizes space, sustainable materials and an unprecedented level of personalization.
Configuration and Comfort
● Standard configuration: 3 rows of seats and 7 electrically adjustable seats.
● Optional configuration: 6 seats, with two extremely comfortable individual seats in the second row.
● Automatic doors: For the first time in an Audi model, the doors can be opened and closed electrically at an angle of up to 90 degrees and are equipped with obstacle detection sensors.
● Sport seats Plus: The front seats come as standard with heating (plus surface heating for the armrests) and can be optionally equipped with ventilation and an advanced massage function.

Smart Panoramic Ceiling
The Q9 gets the largest panoramic roof ever installed on an Audi. It uses a laminated glass with switchable transparency in 9 segments, capable of blocking over 99.5% of UV and infrared rays without the need for a classic roller blind. When the car is stopped, the roof automatically becomes opaque. In the top versions, the roof integrates 84 customizable LEDs in 30 colors.
Premium materials
The dashboard and interior use genuine wood trim, quality textiles, alpaca fiber, Dinamica microfiber, synthetic leather and Nappa leather in new shades such as Tamarind Brown, Natural Beige and Stone Beige.
Digital Cockpit and 4D Audio Experience
The dashboard is dominated by the MMI Panoramic Display, a curved assembly that unites the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with the 14.5-inch central multimedia screen. The front passenger optionally benefits from their own 12.3-inch display, equipped with technology to protect against driver distraction.
Technology and Connectivity:
● Artificial Intelligence: The MMI system integrates ChatGPT for natural voice commands.
● Fast charging: The center console offers dual wireless charging (Qi2.2 standard), and rear passengers have USB-C ports up to 100W.
● Bang & Olufsen 4D Audio System: With a total output of 1,360W and 22 speakers (including speakers integrated into the headrests and kinetic actuators in the front seat cushions), the system developed with Fraunhofer Symphoria® technology allows passengers to “feel” the bass vibrations as if at a live concert.
At launch, the new Audi Q9 is powered by a V6 diesel engine with mild-hybrid technology (MHEV Plus).

The MHEV Plus system allows purely electric driving at low speeds in urban environments and provides a temporary 24 hp boost when accelerating.
The new SUV comes standard with an adaptive air suspension, capable of varying the ground clearance over a total range of 90 mm. Optionally, customers can choose an adaptive sports suspension and an all-wheel steering system (rear-axle steering) for enhanced maneuverability in tight spaces.
The Audi Q9 is ready for Level 2 autonomous driving. The system allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel on the highway at speeds of up to 130 km/h, safely.
The safety package includes:
● Emergency Assist: Stops the car safely in the emergency lane if the driver becomes unavailable.
● Connected Exit Warning: Visually warns (via ground projection and light signals) cyclists or cars approaching from behind when a door is about to be opened.
● Rear Cross Traffic Assist, 360-degree camera system, parking assistant and dedicated trailer handling assistant.
The new Audi Q9 thus aims to become an absolute benchmark in the luxury full-size SUV market, combining impressive dimensions with technological opulence and the versatility of its 7 seats.
The launch of the new Audi Q9 marks the Ingolstadt brand's entry into a highly contested ultra-premium segment, previously dominated by rivals such as the BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz GLS. With orders already open in its home market of Germany, Romanian buyers are eagerly awaiting the local configurator and the first deliveries.
Starting Price: From 108.400 Euros
In Germany, the new Audi Q9 can already be ordered, with an official starting price of 108,400 euros for the debut version equipped with the 299 HP V6 diesel mild-hybrid engine (3.0 TDI MHEV Plus).
Although the local Audi Romania representative has not yet published the final list of prices and equipment specific to our market, estimates show that the base price will be very close to the German one:

A more affordable variant, with a V6 diesel engine downgraded to 245 hp, is to be launched later. If confirmed for the Romanian market, it could lower the entry threshold into the Q9 range to around 100,000 euros.
Production and Delivery Schedule
The German brand's new flagship is assembled close to the Romanian borders, at the Volkswagen Group plant in Bratislava, Slovakia - a strategic center with extensive experience in the production of large SUVs.
● Opening of orders in Romania: Expected towards the end of summer or the beginning of autumn.
● Start of deliveries: The first units will leave the production line in Slovakia starting in November. The first customers in Romania who place their orders in the first wave will receive their cars at the end of the year or in the first months of next year.
