One of the most extreme and exclusive cars on the planet, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, is the subject of a unique recall campaign. The British manufacturer has identified a fault in the braking system that, under aggressive driving conditions, can lock the pads on the discs and cause a fire.
The recall campaign is one of the smallest in the history of the industry, targeting exactly 7 examples from the 2024 production year. It concerns exclusively models equipped with the optional track package (AMR Track Performance Pack), which brings a track-optimized suspension and carbon aerodynamic elements designed to reduce lap times by approximately 8 percent.
The fault originates from a very specific point. The brake master cylinder, supplied by specialists at Alcon Components, contains a seal that can deform under a set of highly unusual circumstances, only encountered on the track.
The problem occurs when the car is in a high-speed skid or controlled drift, and the electronic systems (ESP and traction control) actively intervene while the driver presses the brake pedal hard. Due to the simultaneous action of the human and the electronics, excessive pressure builds up in the system.
As a safety feature, the Valkyrie uses a dual-circuit diagonal braking system. This means that if one circuit is affected, the second remains fully functional, allowing the car to stop safely.
Although the first indications of a discrepancy appeared as early as November 2022 during internal traction control calibration tests on a prototype, British engineers needed time to isolate the exact source.
Owners of the 7 affected hypercars are invited to the brand's official dealers. The fix consists of a complete replacement of the brake master cylinder with a new part, specially redesigned to correctly manage the fluid management in tandem with the car's electronics. The operation takes about 5 hours and is, of course, free of charge.
The Aston Martin Valkyrie is an absolute rarity: production of the street version was strictly limited to 150 units worldwide (plus the Spider and AMR Pro track versions).
The answer is yes, there is a copy configured for Romania. The acquisition was made by professional driver and collector Bogdan Căpușan from Cluj, known for his spectacular hypercar garage. Each Valkyrie customer went through a rigorous selection process and was 3D scanned at the Gaydon factory so that the carbon cabin and seat were perfectly modeled according to their physical dimensions.
Initial list price: At the time of launch and opening of order lists, the base price for an Aston Martin Valkyrie was around 3,000,000 – 3,500,000 euros (or approximately 2.5 million pounds), not including taxes and customizations from the Q by Aston Martin division.
Current market value: Due to the extremely short production run and massive demand from automotive art collectors, specimens appearing on the luxury secondary market in Europe (on specialized platforms in Germany or the Netherlands) are currently trading for amounts between 4,500,000 and 5,300,000 euros.
Even though the batch of 7 cars affected by the recall mainly targets units delivered to the American market under a special homologation regime, Aston Martin applies the technical update to any unit that receives the circuit upgrade, ensuring that the 6.5-liter V12 engine monster developed by Cosworth remains a reliable weapon on the circuit.
